Durham City Velo CC run a fantastic ladies-only skills session every sunday evening from 5:30-6:30 at Sniperly Park and Ride in Durham City. Initially the programme was supposed to run for 6 weeks, but following a great success we’ve decided to carry the sessions on. We’ve had 27 ladies turn up, and would love to see more! we’ve got a huge space to work with so numbers isn’t an issue.
The sessions focus on a variety of skills from beginner to advanced levels – from raising one hand from the bars and learning how to use clip-in pedals to riding with no hands! We never push anyone out of their comfort zone, and we can cater for anyone – whatever the bike, the person, or their pace. Come along to gain a bit of fitness, increase your bike handling skills and have a laugh! We like to present an atmosphere of fun and encouragement with a strong emphasis on learning – you won’t leave feeling like you haven’t had a good time or that you haven’t learned anything!
The sessions are ran by British Cycling coaches and assistants. Every session also is supported by the Pedalmonkey cafe, so refreshments are never far away! We love feedback and suggestions – if you have something you want to work on, mention it to one of the coaches and it’ll probably be in the next session. Any questions, feel free to either message me, comment on this post or post in the DCV Facebook Page.
