Tour of the Pennines – Velo 29
June 4, 2016 @ 7:00 am - 5:00 pm
The Velo29 Tour Of The Pennines, a new event in 2015 and dubbed by many as one of our greatest rides!
The new earlier date to avoid clashes with the holidays will increase on the already excellent attendance. Join us and ride on some great new roads in an area you wont know well in this fantastic Sportive.
The event is based from Barnard Castle and takes in a choice of 2 Tour Routes, 66.9km and 129km. Both routes take in some of the most picturesque, exciting and little ridden roads in this wonderful area. Every mile of the route is carefully considered to make this event the one you’ll remember. There are 2 significant climbs on the Short route and a whopping 6 on the Long. They are tough routes but the emphasis is on a well-designed, challenging and enjoyable ride, not on sending you up every climb we can find in the chase of a headline statistic. This is a ride everyone can enjoy.
At Velo29 we are all Cyclists and we know what makes a good ride! You’ll arrive back at the HQ simply buzzing.
Velo29 Events have all of the great features you want to see at a really good value price. The event is on open roads to keep the cost and number of riders manageable and make this event sustainable. We do have the best signage you will find in any Sportive as well as a stack of service vehicles out on the course should anything happen.
The HQ at The Hub is a great one and we are making available all day a BMX track, canoe lessons, zip-wire, café and lake and of course the lovely Town of Barnard Castle is a short walk away so it really is an event you can make a weekend of and drag the family along.
The climbs out there are tough but we’ve got a balanced mix between long and steady to sharp and steep. Get in a peleton and grind out a pace on the long drags, sheltered from the Wind and safe in the knowledge you can “do-em” at the top! Simply suffer on the steep stuff and hope the top comes soon.
Our Tour of The Pennines has is all, whichever route you choose you’ll be captivated by what a wonderful area to ride a bike the Pennines are, especially when you are so well supported in a Velo29 Event.
Two Routes:-
Short – 43.4 miles – £17.50
Long – 80.2 miles – £25
