Cycling Ireland BMX Commission Report - BMX British National Rounds 1 and 2 at Manchester Indoor Arena March 12/13
After a long and hard two years it was time to get back to BMX racing on an international scale. We had over twenty riders that travelled from Ireland to round 1 and 2 of the BMX British National event.
.
Race day; Breakfast at 6.30-7.00am - The riders headed to the track not knowing how they would get on, after all it has been so long since they raced away from Ireland and for some it was their first time.
Racing started at 9.15am till 1.30pm for the youngest group and then the older boys and girls started at 2.15pm, this was repeated for round 2 on Sunday.
We had some amazing results over the two days, with riders battling it out on the track right to the finish line. 950 riders took part each day. Some age groups had as many as 55 riders competing for the podium spot.
Day one saw 7 of our Irish rider’s progress to the final while day two saw 6 Irish riders progress to the finals.
This is a credit to all the riders, who put the hard work in over the last few years to get to the level they are at. All results can be found on Sqorz
