Legendary Cyclist Brian Robinson Passes Away Aged 91
Cycling Ireland are saddened to learn of the passing of legendary British Cyclist Brian Robinson.
The pioneering cyclist passed away on Tuesday at the age of 91-years-old.
Yorkshire-born Robinson was the first British rider to win a Tour de France stage in 1958 and won a second stage in 1959.
In his early career, he finished 1st overall in the 1951 Dublin-Galway-Dublin race and also finished 5th overall in the 1953 Tour of Ireland.
His achievements in a successful career spanning the 1950's and 1960's paved the way for both British and Irish cyclists' success in the years that followed.
Cycling Ireland would like to extend its sympathies to Mr Robinson's family.
