Hill Climb National Championships 2022 Results


The Cycling Ireland Hill Climb National Championships took place on Sunday, October 9th in Dungannon, Co. Tyrone.


The championships, hosted by Island Wheelers Cycling Club, saw competitors compete across senior men and women as well as a range of men's masters categories.


Darren Rafferty was crowned Hill Climb National Champion in the senior men's category, his blistering time of 4 minutes and 12 seconds saw him finish 14 seconds ahead of second-placed Gareth O'Neill on 4.26. Conor Kissane completed the podium with a time of 4.33.


In the women's category, Linda Kelly was the strongest and her time of 5.24 saw her crowned National Champion. Hazel Smyth finished second with a time of 6.36 while Lauren Garvey came home in third at 7.03.


In the men's masters categories, Stuart McCaughey took the M40 win with a time of 4.48. In M50, it came down to the wire as Neil McKenna's time of 5.11 proved enough to beat Eamon Byrd - who put in a time of 5.12. Jimmy Flynn topped the M60 category a time of 5.52.
