A catch up with fast man, Ryan Geraghty

With most of the racing season completed at this stage and only a handful of weekends left before we head into another long block of autumn/ winter training, we wanted to have a chat with Spin11 – Chain Reaction team rider Ryan Geraghty.

Ryan who previously rode with Team Bikeworx Celbridge since underage level took to the bike like a natural and has been going from strength to strength ever since. We asked Ryan what his main goals were for the 2022 season and the commitment and preparation it’s taken to get to the level he is at now.

1. What is your favourite cycling memory?

My favourite cycling memory and a very recent one was racing in this years Ras Tailteann. It was my first Ras and a great experience and tough weeks racing.

2. How do you motivate yourself to train or stay motivated throughout the season?

I stay motivated to train because you can’t beat the feeling of getting out on the bike and staying fit and helathy.

3. What were your main goals coming into the 2022 season?

My main focus for this year was to get the most out of my racing as possible. Learn and gain experience at racing at a high level here in Ireland and obviously try and pick up some results along the way.

4. What is your highlight of the season so far?

My highlight of this year so far would have to be stage 4 of this years Ras Tailteann. It was a flat out stage from start to finish for 155km and we averaged 48kmph. Pure madness but great fun.

5. Do you have future goals in cycling to aim for next season and beyond that?

My goals for the remainder of this season is to get out and enjoy as much as possible of it. Not much left on the calendar. Then I’ll sit down and assess my main targets for 2023 over the winter period.

A man of few words but well and truly able to let his bike racing do the talking when he needs to. At 19, the future is certainly bright for this young man and we look forward to see him racing on the Irish scene, hopefully for many years to come.
