Leisure National Series - West Clare Challenge
The new Leisure National Series got off to a brilliant start with the West Clare Challenge on Saturday, 18th June.
As Rás Tailteann left the Banner on stage 4, riders were getting ready for the first event of the Leisure National Series.
Over 120 riders took part in the event organised by West Clare Cycling Club with riders travelling near and far to take on the challenge. There was two distances to choose from - 90km and 160km with a faster group off first followed by a controlled group at 25kph. Many participants enjoyed the easy start for the first 15km and found their comfort group there after.
Members of the Cycling Ireland Leisure Commission were on hand to assist with setting the pace in the controlled group and shared advice and tips with participants along the way.
Well done to everyone who participated. See you at the next one!
The next event in the Leisure National Series is the Tour de Kilkenny which takes place on Saturday, 30th July. Find out more about the event here: http://tourdekilkenny.com/
