Cyclo-cross National Series Round Two Results

The Second Round of the Cyclo-cross National Series saw Cross Clonmel host an exhilarating round of racing in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, on Saturday and Sunday, October 14th and 15th.
The UCI Class 2 event, in its first year within the Cyclo-cross National Series, saw some of the country's top riders do battle with some international stars in what proved to be an enjoyable weekend of racing for all involved.
In the elite men's race, Jente Michels proved too strong for the rest as the soared to victory, finishing over two minutes clear of fellow international rider Joe Coukham while Jenson Young finished over three minutes down. Dean Harvey was the best of the Irish riders in fourth place while there were also top ten finishes for Darnell Moore, Jamie Meehan, Travis Harkness, Tadhg Killeen and Richard Barry.
In the elite women's race, Anna Kay once again took victory at Cross Clonmel as she returned to the event, finishing over two minutes clear of Aine Doherty in second place. Roisin Lally finished in third while Aliyah Rafferty and Darcey Harkness rounded out a top five featuring four Irish riders. Doherty took the award for best-placed junior rider.
The Junior race saw British rider Joel Hurt edge out Joseph Mullen in a thrilling contest by just ten seconds. A well contested race throughout, Britain's Matthew Bell rounded out the podium.
In the masters categories, Marcus Flavin took an impressive solo victory in the M40 race, Trevor Woods emerged victorious after an excellent battle with Fearghal Regan in the M50 race while in the M60 race, Johnny McCabe proved head and shoulders above the rest.
Saturday's action featured an array of non-championship youth and support races as well as the U14 and U16 National Series races in an enjoyable day for all the family.
In the U14 races, Katie Turner and Eoin Davis were strongest as they came over the line solo in the girls and boys races respectively. Curtis McKee emerged victorious from a competitive U16 boys race while Emer Heverin was strongest in the U16 girls race.
