Cycling Ulster is pleased to announce that Stephen Connolly has been co-opted to the Cycling Ulster Executive. The Co. Cavan man fills the vacancy that was left on the Executive following the co-option of Claire Young to the Cycling Ireland Board.
Stephen has been cycling for around a decade and been a member of DB Cycling Club for several years. He has taken part in leisure events and the Cavan Inter-club League as well as serving on the club’s committee.
Speaking following his co-option, Stephen said:
“I am delighted to be joining the Cycling Ulster Executive and look forward to using my knowledge and experience to develop the sport.
“I am also the current Chairperson of DB Cycling Club and I am keen to work hard to ensure more people of all abilities can enjoy the many activities and opportunities our sport has to offer.”
Welcoming the announcement, Cycling Ulster Chairperson, Tommy McCague said:
“It’s great to have Stephen join us on the Executive and it means we now have returned to a full quota of members.
“Stephen is passionate about progressing all aspects of our sport and will help build on the work of Claire Young in areas such as coach education and the development of our volunteers.
“Stephen’s co-option also enhances the geographical spread of members of the Executive and I understand he is the first Cavan person to hold a position on the Executive.
“I want to thank Stephen for stepping forward to take on this role and he will be a great addition.”
