Sport Ireland Announces Core Grant Investment For 2023

Sport Ireland today announced an investment of over €26m to National Governing Bodies for Sport (NGBs) and to the network of Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs) for 2023. 


This year’s figures see a €1m (6%) increase in allocation to the National Governing Bodies on 2022 funding. The total core funding to the NGBs in 2023 is €16m. 


Cycling Ireland will receive €440,000 in core grant funding for 2023. 


Interim CEO of Cycling Ireland, Chris Kitchen welcomes the announcement by Sport Ireland and the €20,000 increase in funding for 2023. 

"We really welcome the ongoing support from the Minister and Sport Ireland and our core funding allocation will help us continue to encourage more people to take up cycling and hopefully become members of Cycling Ireland. We feel that there is a huge untapped community of casual and leisure cyclists and we want to be able to support our clubs and the Provinces with the development opportunities to capitalise on this community."

"The core funding helps us provide services such as club development, coach education and development. safeguarding, advocacy, events, membership support services and so much more. As one of the three target sport of running, swimming and cycling we are really keen to get as many as possible involved in cycling and the Core funds help us to do this."
