After a successful UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup and Provincial Championships, the Cycling Ireland Cyclo-cross National Series is back on December 28th.
Some of Ireland’s best riders are back in action as the focus switches to McCrystals Track as it hosts the third round of the National Series.
Hosted by Bellurgan Wheelers, the McCrystal track is 3km long and features 40 corners and is sure to provide exciting racing as the series heats up.
Riders will have extra incentive in this round, with the Co. Louth track also set to host the National Championships on January 14th and 15th, it can prove a valuable opportunity for some riders to get to know the course.
Race organiser Bryan McCrystal said:
“McCrystals track is situated at the foot of the Cooley mountains and is the first purpose built Cyclo-cross track in ireland. It was a pet project I took on four years ago and like any project I want to improve it all the time. We did a lot of work on the track this summer with the Cyclo-cross National Championships in mind and the feedback has been great."
"We have everything you expect a Cyclo-cross track to have such as fast straights, sharp climbs, san , steps and hard path start and finish straights. We are really looking forward to hosting the 3rd round of the National Series and welcoming riders that haven’t been with us before."
Dean Harvey and Aine Doherty have dominated the senior races in the opening two rounds, the pair won both rounds of the senior men and women races.
